    With regards to pro sports, in your opinion, who's retirement had the biggest impact (positive or negative) on their respective franchise.

    For me, it was when Bird called it quits after the '92 Olympics.

    That was really a perfect set up.

    I started my precipitous drop in interest in baseball after Ripkin retired. Growing up in Baltimore, the '83 Orioles had a big impact on my youth. When I was old enough to afford them, I got season tickets with some friends and held them for a dozen years, following the team from Memorial Stadium to Camden Yards.

    These days, I follow both Union and association rugby. Can't sit through a baseball game unless I'm in the stadium and drunk.
